Waxing aftercare products are what turn a great wax into smooth skin that lasts until the next appointment, and this collection is the complete three step routine we use in our own studios. Just The Strip was created in 2020 by Tawnya Fornerod, a licensed esthetician with almost 25 years in waxing, because the products she wanted to send clients home with did not exist in a form that was clean, effective, and affordable at the same time. These are the products used in her own studios, made for anyone who waxes, sugars, or shaves.
Step one is Simply Pure Body Wash, pH balanced, fragrance free, and gentle enough for daily use on intimate skin. Step two is an ingrown hair serum, either Smooth Operator for tougher ingrowns or Truth Serum, the acid free serum we recommend for sensitive skin and during pregnancy and nursing. Step three is a Nourishing Oil to hydrate and seal, in Plain Jane, with no added fragrance and a touch of tea tree and copaiba, or one of our signature scents. Exfoliating gloves, the Cactus Bikini Scrubber, and Wipe it Good personal wipes fill in the gaps between appointments.
Our nourishing oils are made by us in small batches in Southern Oregon, our body wash and sugar scrubs are made in the USA by manufacturing partners, and we are working to bring more of our line to US manufacturing as well. The three step post wax routine is cleanse, treat, and hydrate, and it takes about a minute in the shower and thirty seconds after. Step one is Simply Pure Body Wash, a pH balanced, fragrance free wash gentle enough for daily use on freshly waxed and intimate skin. Step two is an ingrown hair serum, either Smooth Operator for stubborn ingrowns or Truth Serum, the acid free serum we recommend for sensitive skin and during pregnancy. Step three is a Nourishing Oil to hydrate the skin and support the barrier, and it is the same routine we send clients home with from our own studios.
What should I avoid for 48 hours after a Brazilian wax?
For the first 48 hours after a Brazilian, skip spray tans and self tanners, hold off on exfoliating for 24 to 48 hours, and give sweaty workouts, sun, and tanning beds at least 24 hours. Freshly waxed follicles are open and easily irritated, so heat, friction, sweat, and fragrance cause most of the bumps people see in those first days. Cleanse with a gentle, fragrance free wash, apply your ingrown hair serum, finish with a few drops of oil, and wear loose, breathable clothing.
Can I work out after waxing?
Wait at least 24 hours before a sweaty workout after waxing. Sweat and friction irritate open follicles and are one of the most common causes of red bumps after a wax, so a walk or gentle stretching is fine while hot yoga, spin, and heavy training can wait a day. After your next workout, shower with a gentle, pH balanced wash and reapply your ingrown hair serum.
Why do I have red bumps after waxing?
Small red bumps in the first day or two after waxing are a normal reaction of the follicle and usually settle within 48 hours. Bumps that show up one to three weeks later are more often ingrown hairs, which a daily ingrown hair serum and gentle exfoliation starting 24 to 48 hours after your wax help prevent. Anything painful, swollen, hot, or filled with pus should be checked by a doctor.
How long after waxing can I exfoliate?
Wait 24 to 48 hours after waxing or sugaring before you exfoliate, then exfoliate two or three times a week until your next appointment. Freshly waxed skin needs a day or two to settle, and scrubbing too soon can irritate open follicles. After that, a sugar scrub, exfoliating glove, or silicone scrubber keeps dead skin from building up over the follicle so hair can grow through cleanly.
How long should I keep using aftercare between waxes?
Keep using your aftercare the whole time between waxes, because ingrown hairs form in the weeks after an appointment as the hair grows back, not on the day of the wax. The clients who see the best results use the serum and oil daily and the wash every shower, and a single serum and oil typically last through a full waxing cycle. Consistent aftercare also makes the next wax easier, since calm skin lets the hair come out clean.
Why use a fragrance free body wash after waxing instead of my regular one?
A fragrance free, pH balanced body wash is kinder to freshly waxed skin, because many everyday washes carry fragrance and a pH that can irritate skin that has just been waxed, especially intimate skin. Simply Pure is pH balanced for that skin, free of fragrance, and made with aloe, so it cleanses without stripping. It is gentle enough for daily use on the bikini area, and many clients switch to it for their whole body.
Is sugaring aftercare different from waxing aftercare?
No, sugaring and waxing aftercare are the same, because both remove hair from the root and leave the follicle open for a day or two. Use a gentle, fragrance free wash, apply an ingrown hair serum right after your service and once a day between appointments, finish with a few drops of oil, and wait 24 to 48 hours before you exfoliate. Which waxing aftercare products do you recommend during pregnancy?
During pregnancy and nursing we recommend Simply Pure Body Wash, Truth Serum, and Plain Jane Nourishing Oil, which together make a complete three step routine with no added fragrance. Truth Serum is acid free and built on botanicals, which is why it is the ingrown hair serum we recommend for clients who are pregnant or nursing, while Smooth Operator contains salicylic acid and should be swapped for Truth Serum during that time. Where are Just The Strip aftercare products made?
Many of our products are made by us in small batches in Southern Oregon, including our Nourishing Oils, usually a few hundred units at a time. Simply Pure Body Wash and our sugar scrubs are made for us in the USA, while Smooth Operator and Truth Serum are made to our formula by manufacturing partners.
